A Proven Framework that Turns Readers into Clients

Jan 14, 2025

I'll get to the framework in a sec. For now, a quick update...

A few issues ago, I mentioned that I was planning some changes to this resource letter and that I would keep you up to date on those changes and why I'm making them, so you can learn from my successes (and mistakes) and implement the good parts into your business.

So today the AI-Powered Business Advisor is coming to you in a different format and from a different email platform.

First, the format:

It's a little shorter and written using the PASTOR writing framework (read on for a description and a prompt to help you implement this yourself).

Next, the email platform:

I have historically sent you this resource letter from KeapMAX CRM. I've been with Keap for years and I generally like their platform. I'm even a certified partner.

But like all tech tools, the one-stop shop tools are kind of OK At many things but not really, really good at any ONE thing.

I'm not ditching Keap. I run nearly my entire business with it. But I'm now using Kit.com as my email platform.

Why the switch?

First, until you reach multiple five figures per month in revenue and you have the fundamentals in your business working well, then focus as much as possible on one technology platform that does the job.

As I said, I run nearly my entire business on Keap. And CRM's are like politics and religion. Most people have very passionate opinions about them.

My humble (but accurate) opinion has always been that the best CRM for you is the one that you will use. It's the one that helps you build your business, at least to the point where you can safely keep the boss away.

I'm using Kit because we're focused on growing by 3X this year, and making this resource letter as valuable as possible is a key part of the strategy to get us there.

To do that requires performance data and feedback, and Kit is better designed to help us with that.

So please let me know, from your perspective, what you like and how we can improve this publication for you so it's the most important business-building email you get each week.

Which brings me to the topic of this issue:

A Proven Framework that Turns Readers into Clients

I'm going to use the PASTOR framework to explain the PASTOR framework. Let me know if I succeeded.

[P - Problem]

➜ Most consultants are losing potential clients because they're writing weak, unfocused marketing copy.

➜ Your expertise is valuable, but if you can't communicate it persuasively, you're leaving money on the table.

⚠︎ I've reviewed hundreds of consultant websites and LinkedIn profiles, and I keep seeing the same mistakes: generic messaging, weak calls to action, and copy that fails to connect emotionally with ideal clients.

[A - Amplify]

Think about it:

πŸ”Ž How many potential clients are scrolling past your posts?

πŸ”Ž How many website visitors leave without contacting you?

πŸ”Ž How much revenue are you losing from ineffective copy?

⚠︎ The cost of poor copywriting isn't just lost clients—it's the growing frustration of working harder than necessary to fill your pipeline, the constant worry about where your next client will come from, and the nagging feeling that you're not reaching your full potential.

[S - Story/Solution]

Let me introduce you to PASTOR—a proven framework that transformed my own consulting business. When I first started, my copy was all over the place. Then I discovered this simple but powerful approach:

✦ P - Present the Problem

✦ A - Amplify the consequences

✦ S - Share the Story/Solution

✦ T - Transform their life

✦ O - Offer a path forward

✦ R - Request a Response

[T - Transformation]

Here's what top-performing consultants do differently with their copy:

They Start with the Problem

➜ Identify specific pain points

➜ Use their prospect's language

➜ Make the problem real and urgent

They Amplify Consequences

➜ Show what happens if nothing changes

➜ Paint a vivid picture of the cost of inaction

➜ Create emotional investment

They Tell Compelling Stories

➜ Share relevant case studies

➜ Demonstrate proven solutions

➜ Build credibility through examples

They Show Transformation

➜ Paint the "after" picture

➜ Focus on specific outcomes

➜ Make success feel achievable

They Make Clear Offers

➜ Present specific next steps

➜ Remove uncertainty

➜ Make it easy to say yes

[O - Offer]

➑️ To help you implement this framework right away, I've written an amazing prompt to help you write copy that works like a "dog whistle" for your ideal client. You can get it here.

[R - Response]

πŸ“Œ Your next step:

Choose one piece of your marketing copy—a LinkedIn post, website page, or email—and rewrite it using the PASTOR framework. Then, share it with me for feedback.

That's it.

Here's what you learned today:

βœ… Generic copy is killing your consulting business

βœ… The PASTOR framework turns readers into clients

βœ… Each element serves a specific purpose in the sale

Remember: Every piece of copy you write is either building or breaking your business.

Make it count.
